Residencies

Rusalka visits schools throughout Oregon to conduct residency programs. By exposing students to the beauty of Eastern European music we are giving them a connection to rich cultural histories and musical traditions that have spanned generations.

Rusalka conducts residencies for elementary, middle, high school and college level students. Rusalka will introduce students to the fundamentals and stylistic intricacies of Eastern European music through interactive instruction. We will inspire an appreciation for the cultural histories of the various regions comprising Eastern Europe. Students will gain an understanding of how songs are used in community life.  The regional geography and history and its relationship to musical traditions will be explored. Rusalka will further enrich the experiences of the students through story telling.

The residency program culminates in a school performance in which the students demonstrate what they have learned to their peers, teachers and parents or care givers.
